The Committee Member

Committee members are registered adult leaders. To be an adult leader, adults need to sign up and pay dues of $10.00 per year. Adult leaders must be trained - see training requirements.

Awards and Advancement Committee: This committee is responsible for continuous monitoring the advancement of each scout and securing appropriate rank badges and awards for presentation at Pack meetings. The Advancement Chairman is also responsible for regularly identifying leaders and parents worthy of recognition and securing appropriate awards for them. Reports to the Secretary.

Pinewood Derby Committee: Plans and executes all aspects of Pack 688's annual Pinewood Derby including promotion, set-up and take-down, communication, food, weigh-in/registration, racing, scoring, patches, and awards. Reports to the Asst. Cubmaster for Program.

Blue and Gold Banquet Committee: Plans and conducts the annual Blue and Gold Banquet including reservation of facilities, decorations, food, tickets, door prizes, and activities. Reports to the Cubmaster.

Scout Fair Committee: Organizes Pack 688's participation in the annual April SHAC Scout Fair. Plans activity tables, coordinates Friday evening set-up and Saturday take-down. Reports to the Asst. Cubmaster for Indoor Program.

Fundraising Committee: Coordinates Pack 688's major annual fall popcorn sale. The committee is made up of one parent from each den or patrol in the pack and elects a chairman. The committee distributes salesman kits, collects orders from each den, submits a summary order to SHAC, arranges pick-up and distribution of popcorn products to dens and collection of proceeds. It is responsible for accurate accounting of all sales and proceeds and reports to the Treasurer.

Membership/Recharter Committee: Maintains an accurate roster of all registered Pack 688 scouts and scouters, including name, address, parent names, telephone numbers, email addresses, and date of birth. Coordinates the annual pack rechartering process. Communicates process to pack families in early November and secures all necessary forms and annual dues by December 15 in preparation for submittal of January recharter documentation. Annually arranges optional youth protection meeting for interested families. Reports to the Secretary.

Recruiting and Round-Table: Coordinates autumn Cub Round-Table recruiting event including attending July District Round-Table Conference, event and facilities scheduling, boy-talks at Bethany’s School, Longfellow and Mark Twain Elementary and Post Oak School, reception table, registration table, and activity program involving each den. Reports to the Cubmaster.

Photographer/Historian: Serves as official photographer for the Pack. This individual attends most events and captures photographic record of pack events throughout the year, provides Newsletter editor with photos, and keeps the Pack scrapbook up-to-date. Reports to the Webmaster/Editor.

First Aid Committee: Arranges for first aid services and supplies at all Pack events including meetings, campouts, and outings. Ensures up-to-date first aid training of at least four adult leaders in the Pack. Maintains the Pack First Aid Kit with adequate fresh supplies. Reports to Health and Safety Officer.

Other Committees: Other committees may be formed to address the short-term or long-term administrative needs of the pack
