Financing the Pack

Pack 688 finances its activities with both annual dues and fundraising revenue.

Annual Dues ($35.00)
Annual dues pay for your son's membership in the Boy Scouts of America and the Sam Houston Area Council, his subscription to Boy's Life Magazine, BSA supplemental insurance coverage while he is participating in program activities, and resources and awards he will receive from the Pack throughout the year. The Pack also pays for some Leader Training and Training materials. Dues are paid in January for the current calendar year. If your son joins the pack during the year (e.g. September), his dues are adjusted to cover the remainder of the current calendar year.

Pack 688 Pays For.......
For every Scout, Pack 688 pays for the Cub Scout Handbook and a neckerchief for his program (Tiger, Wolf, Bear, Webelos) and all of the badges, belt loops/pins, activity badges, and special awards he will receive from the Pack throughout the year. The Pack also pays all overnight camping fees at family campouts and Webelos overnighters (each Den pays for their own food, fuel, park fees, etc.). Webelos will also receive a Boy Scout Handbook when they cross over at the Blue-Gold banquet near the end of their second year.

Pack 688 Does Not Pay For.......
The Pack does not pay for uniforms, supplemental camping expenses like food and fuel, resident camp, Twilight Camp or Day-Camp fees, or fees associated with special program events like District Derby Day and Scout Fair.

Fund Raising
More than half the pack's annual operations are paid for with fund raising revenue. Pack 688 conducts an autumn "Trails End" popcorn sale as our primary fundraiser. Ambitious Scouts can earn cool prizes and help the pack with it’s finances. We also look for other funding opportunities. If you have any suggestions please be sure to inform the leadership of your idea.
