Meeting Ground Rules

The Cub Scout Sign: Often attended by more than 30 young boys and siblings, a Pack meeting can quickly become chaotic without a few rules of engagement. When a Leader raises the Cub Scout Sign (index and middle finger of the right hand extended) or Boy Scout Sign it is an indication that the meeting should come to order. Children should immediately stop what they are doing, gather into dens, observe silence and raise their right hand in the Cub Scout Sign. Parents can help by raising the Cub Scout Sign, too.

Respect For Others: Every boy works hard throughout the year to earn his rank badge, activity pins, belt loops, and other awards. As a matter of respect for the ideals of Cub Scouting, scouts should remain silent and listen during awards ceremonies, skits, and other program elements that require instructions, demonstrations, announcements, or performances. Please do your best to arrive a few minutes before the meeting starts.

Meeting Layout: Cubs will assemble in an orderly fashion in the meeting room along lines taped or painted on the floor or on a blanket or ground-cloth.

Walk, Don't Run: Running is prohibited at indoor pack meetings. All Den leaders and parents are encouraged to enforce this rule. Our meeting places have very hard floors and we don't want injuries to spoil the fun.

Clean Up: Some of our meetings will produce litter and other debris. Scouts have a reputation of "leave no trace." If everyone helps tidy the room and return furniture to its place after the meeting we can all get home sooner. Please "pitch-in" and help clean up after meetings.
